Introduction
Ready-made playbooks that let your assistant answer from your Well data
What a skill is
A skill is a playbook your AI assistant follows to answer one question from your connected business data. It checks what the workspace has connected, calls the Well MCP tools it needs, computes the answer, and shows the working. When something it depends on is missing, it says so instead of guessing.
Skills are authored in the open at WellApp-ai/skills, one directory per skill.
How skills relate to the Well MCP server
The MCP server is the connection. It hands your assistant tools such as well_render_runway, well_list_account_balances, and well_query_records, but it does not decide how to use them.
A skill is the instruction layer above those tools. It knows which ones to call for one question, in what order, what the workspace needs connected for the answer to hold, and how to present the result. Connect the MCP server once, then add the skills that match the questions you ask.
What ships today
Ninety-three skills. Seventy-three answer a question you would actually ask, and twenty are the setup steps those invoke to get what they need. Twenty-seven of the ninety-three write rather than read. The one that saves a board writes only an arrangement with no figure in it, so it saves at once. The one that sets how far Well acts alone writes only what you type yourself in Well's chat, and an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can only lower a level, never raise it. The reconciliation check re-runs Well's own matching and posting on your request, and writes nothing outside Well. The one that reuses an invoice design starts its rebuild at once and saves nothing until you keep the design. Every other one shows you what it is about to do and waits for your confirmation first.
